Sabageria Community, 23 September 2026 — Community members in Sabageria have participated in a sensitisation programme focused on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and harmful traditional practices affecting women and girls.

The engagement was held in Kalama Compound, Sabageria, and provided an opportunity for community members to discuss the causes and effects of GBV and harmful traditional practices, as well as the importance of collective action in addressing them.

Participants were sensitised on the need to recognise and challenge practices that undermine the rights, dignity and wellbeing of women and girls. The discussion also encouraged community members to promote positive cultural values and support safer environments for women and girls.

The engagement further highlighted the important role of community members and local leaders in preventing GBV, speaking out against harmful practices and supporting those affected.

The sensitisation forms part of ongoing community-based efforts to strengthen awareness and encourage collective action towards ending GBV and harmful traditional practices.
