Oyobu Community Continues Sensitisation on Ending Harmful Traditional Practices

Oyobu Community, 19 September 2026 – Community leaders in Oyobu have continued efforts to raise awareness on the need to end harmful traditional practices affecting women and girls.
The sensitisation, held at the Oyobu Community Town Hall, was led by community leaders and facilitated by the Gender Advocacy and Women Resource Centre (GAWRC).
The engagement provided an opportunity to further educate community members on the harmful effects of traditional practices that undermine the rights, dignity and wellbeing of women and girls.
Community leaders encouraged residents to support positive cultural values while speaking out against practices that can cause harm, discrimination and violence.

The continued sensitisation underscores the importance of community leadership and collective action in challenging harmful practices and promoting a safer and more supportive environment for women and girls.
GAWRC continues to support community-led advocacy and awareness efforts aimed at promoting the rights, safety and wellbeing of women and girls.
