On Sunday 8th December 2025, a team from the Gender Advocacy and Women Resource Centre (GAWRC), led by its Programme Director, Mr. Anthony Ternerge Iyortyer, visited Ohorhe 2 Community in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, to hold a town hall meeting aimed at addressing Digital Violence, Harmful Cultural Practices, and other forms of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The interactive session, which featured open dialogue and community engagement, witnessed moments of intense debate as residents and stakeholders expressed diverse views on long-standing cultural practices. However, through constructive discussions and sensitization, the community eventually acknowledged that wife beating, denial of inheritance rights, and other harmful practices constitute violence against women and girls.

The engagement was followed by a symbolic awareness march across the community, with participants carrying placards and raising their voices against all forms of GBV and digital abuse.

GAWRC reaffirms its unwavering commitment to promoting the rights, safety, and dignity of women and girls and continues to call on communities, leaders, and stakeholders to say NO to Digital Violence and all forms of Gender-Based Violence.
