Community Entry: GAWRC Engages Alaka Community in Fight Against GBV

Community Entry Exercise in Alaka, Delta State (May 2025)

The Gender Advocacy and Women Resource Centre (GAWRC) has taken a significant step toward strengthening grassroots participation in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV). In May 2025, the organization conducted a community entry exercise in Alaka, Delta State, as part of the preparatory phase for Project Zero Tolerance for GBV.

The visit provided an opportunity to introduce the project to community leaders and members, fostering open dialogue on GBV prevention and response. Stakeholders expressed their commitment to working collectively with GAWRC to address the root causes of GBV and create safer spaces for women and girls.

This engagement laid the groundwork for community ownership of the initiative, ensuring that the project is not only community-driven but also sustainable.
